Privacy policy

The Steaper iPhone app collects no personal data, has no accounts, runs no analytics, and makes no network requests of any kind. It works identically with the device in airplane mode, because nothing in it needs a server.

This website is separate and does log a little, as every website does. That part is covered further down.

Two things, both on your device only, both in the standard iOS preferences store for the app:

• which teas you have marked as favourites;
• whether you prefer the light or dark appearance.

Neither leaves the phone. Deleting the app deletes both. If you use iCloud device backups, Apple’s backup may include them — that is Apple’s system, governed by Apple’s privacy policy, and we have no access to it.

• No account, sign-in, or email address is ever requested.
• No analytics, crash reporting, or usage measurement SDK is included.
• No advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking across apps or sites.
• No data is sold, shared, or transferred to anyone, because none is collected.
• No networking code exists in the app at all — the tea data ships inside the download.

Notifications. Optional, and only so a steep that finishes while you are in another app can still tell you. The notifications are scheduled locally on the device; there is no push server. Decline and the app works, you just need to keep it on screen.

Live Activities. Used to show the running steep on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. This stays on your device and is handled by iOS.

The app requests no access to your location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or health data.

steaper.com is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records standard request information — IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and when — to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We do not add analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies on top of that, and the site sets no cookies of its own.

If you enter your email address to be notified at launch, we keep that address for one purpose: to send you a single message when the app is released. It is not added to a marketing list, not sold, and not shared. Ask us at hello@steaper.com and we will delete it.

Your appearance preference on this site is stored in your own browser’s local storage and is never sent anywhere.

Steaper is a brewing timer with no social features, no user content, and no data collection, so there is nothing for a child to disclose through it.

Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, or erase personal data held about you. For the app there is nothing to act on — we hold no data about you. For an email address given to the launch list, write to hello@steaper.com and it will be removed.

If a future version of the app ever collects anything, this page will say so before that version ships, and the date at the top will change. We will not quietly start collecting data under an old policy.
